posted Nov 18, 2012, 6:48 PM by Anurag Rana

Dear All,
Here is part 3 of the same - this picks up from our last videos and achieves the result rather quickly in unity3D by modifying an example from the downloaded nyartoolkit library for unity3d. The blender 3d asset used in this video is attached below, and you may download the said nyartoolkit library from here http://sourceforge.jp/projects/nyartoolkit/releases/?package_id=12917

Please find video 2 of the augmented reality series - this video covers an introduction to Processing - an integrated development environment related to graphical programming. Through four examples - we will learn our way around processing - first making a basic painting application, second making a spinning 3D cube, and third, getting the webcam feed, and finally: - mixing the video camera feed with the 3D elements ! please view in HD to see what code is being written, and take things at your own pace.

Tiger Moth flying over Hindon !

posted Oct 28, 2012, 3:02 AM by Anurag Rana

Ever wondered how does the Hindon Air Force base look like from the skies ? what better way than to see it for yourself, and that too flying in a vintage Tiger Moth - an aircraft from the 1930's recently restored !! Have a look.
(It might as for a unity plugin to be installed - the same is available from http://unity3d.com/webplayer/)

Augmented Reality game on Indian Air Force

posted May 13, 2012, 2:46 PM by Anurag Rana   [ updated May 13, 2012, 3:00 PM ]

On 13th/14th/15th April - Indian Air Force organized a Road Show to connect with the masses. It was organized in a leading mall in the capital New Delhi. I had the good honor of participating with an Augmented Reality game.

The aim was - for the kids to get a chance to fly a gunship. Hence, in the setup, kids would come and stand in front of the screen, and will see a mirror image being captured by a camera, and a Mi35 gunship will appear in place of the markers which the kids were handed out to. One marker was used to capture the Helicopter, while the second one will trigger its gun.

The image show kids having a great time at this, while i present a demo to the Chief of Indian Air Force - Air Chief Marshal N K Browne.

A discussion on the game could be found in Unity Forums here - http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/30817-UnityAR-ARToolkit-Interface/page8

Hello world ( or Blenderheads !)

posted May 11, 2012, 11:30 PM by Anurag Rana   [ updated May 11, 2012, 11:39 PM ]

Hello World, or more specifically, Hello Blenderheads

You might be aware about project Mango in amsterdam - a blender based CGI/VFX open movie being made.
In India, a similar project is underway, not an open movie, but a TV animated series - and its on the Indian Air Force.

So if you are a passionate blender user, and wish to take blender where even the sky is NOT the limit.... literally - we will be making animated aircrafts flying real high in the sky and blowing things on the ground - then please care to join us.

For starters, we are arranging a meetup: -
Date: 21st May 2012 (Monday) at 3 PM
D-37, Sector 63, Sector 63, NOIDA, Uttar Pradesh 201301, India
(Thats a google map link, click to find out location)

Hope to meet and blend with you there !

Best,
Yours animatedly
